A marriage can be a tiresome
and tedious event, but it is also a social institution that legitimizes
offspring and legally binds two individuals as each other’s wedded partners. Registration of a marriage can prove to
be vital in protecting the legal rights of women and children in a marriage. In
fact the importance of marriage registration is so much that the Supreme Court has made it compulsory register a marriage.
